WHITE ASPARAGUS

Take advantage of the highly sought after seasonal white asparagus. Harvested strictly by hand, Reflections Chef Darren Watson and his culinary team add their personal touch of flair, flamboyance and finesse to each epicurean transformation. A luxurious degustation marries the more delicate and milder flavoured asparagus variety with premium ingredients in quality renditions of classic French cuisine. Asparagus can be prepared through a variety of methods, traditionally boiled or steamed, grilled, stir-fried or roasted. It is a delicious and healthy treat to serve in salads and with any meat or poultry. Asparagus spears are grown from a crown during 6-7 weeks in spring and early summer. The spears are only harvested three years after their crowns are planted.
This remarkable plant is high in folic acid and is a good source of potassium, fibre, vitamin B6, and vitamins A and C. With no cholesterol, no fat and low in sodium, it is a perfect choice for guests who enjoy a healthy lifestyle.

Cupcake recipes: Where do they come from? Who really knows how cupcakes originated? Right now, two possible theories are circulating in the food world. Both theories are based on cupcake recipes found in cookbooks from eras long ago. The first theory is that cake batter was cooked in teacups and other small containers since it took such a long time to cook cakes in hearth ovens. The small teacups cut the cooking time of cakes dramatically. The second theory is based on how the ingredients in the cupcake recipes were measured. (1 cup flour, 2 cups sugar etc.)
However they first came about, these wonderful creations we call cupcakes are still near and dear to everyone's heart whether we're young or just young at heart.
